Kits are printed using ultra-strong Carbon Fiber infused PETG plastic in high-end prosumer grade printers. CFPETG plastic is impact resistant, temperature resistant and chemical resistant. Our eyecups are 3D printed with soft TPU. Guide rods (stainless steel) and screw utilize metal-on-metal bearings/bushings for a lifetime of service. Each cam mounting plate has pupillary distance (PD) thumb adjuster.
These have been tested with various mounts from Wilcox and Norotos as well as bump and ballistic FAST/ACH/MICH helmets. You can substitute in a metal Wilcox dovetail shoe (not included), such as the 14003G01 or similar for added strength can be found at various online stores. All Sionyx Current (2021) Aurora Cameras (including Standard, Sport, Black and Pro).
You will still need a Sionyx nightcam (not included), FLIR Breach thermal. , a dovetail NVG mount like the Wilcox G24 or clone (L4G24).
As well as helmet with the NVG mount. All can be found on Amazon and various other online vendors.
Each cam mounting plate easily screws in to the camera mounting holes on the bottom of the Sionyx cams. FLIR Breach mini-rail slides into the mounting plate. Align the center holes and thread the locking screw through. Do not overtighten these mounting screws! PD adjustments may be tight when new, but will loosen up a little with use. We added the springs on the guide rod and screws to improve this tightness to prevent changes in PD with use. Attach helmet tethers to each mounting plate to further secure the cams from dislodgement from the helmet mount itself. Springs can be removed to further decrease the PD. Your Sionyx camera must be setup for helmet use. Video mode, EIS [OFF], FPS [30], Resolution [720p], and HDR [ON]. Set EVF Time Out to [NEVER]. Adjust viewfinder illumination as needed. For a Sionyx-only setup, we usually want the Zoom to be 1:1. The FLIR Breach however is zoomed in. For the image fusion to be close, Sionyx camera may need to be zoomed in 3x.
